About Us
The Boise Co-op Wine Shop is a destination wine experience located in the heart of Boise’s historical North End. We feature over 2500 different wine selections from around the world — from Idaho to Europe’s finest — as well as dozens of Port, Maderia, and Sherry. Need a cold bottle in a hurry? We have an expansive selection of chilled whites, roses and bubbly! We are located at 915 N. 8th Street across from the Boise Co-op, and are open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 8 pm, Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.
We offer free tastings every Friday from 4:30-6:30 (check out our events Calendar for what’s coming up), and usually have something open to taste on the weekends. Buy a mixed case for 10% off, or recieve 15% off special order or case stack items.
- History of the Boise Co-op Wine Shop
The Boise Co-op Wine Shop started in 1984, as a department within The Boise Consumer Co-op, which was then at it’s prior smaller location on Hill Road. The Wine Department launched back then with 48 facings and a $3.99 Wall of Bargain Wines. Twenty-three years later we have grown to house over 3500 unique wine selections! Our own stand-alone wine shop is now located right across the parking lot from our parent the Boise Co-op. Come in and check out our selection and our walk-in climate-controlled wine cellar that houses some very special bottles.
- Boise Co-op Wine Shop Staff
We know the wine world can be enigmatic and navigating thousands of selections can be daunting. But don’t worry we’re here to help you pick out the perfect bottle at the right price. Divit, Bruce, Christian, Allen, Robin, Drew, Bobby, Leil and Dave, the Wine Crew are all passionate about what they do. Prepare to be overwhelmed, but in a good way.
Divit Cardoza: Overlord
Bruce Curfman: Night Manager
Drew Graham: Day Manager
Christian Robertson
Born into the wine business, Christian’s father started the first fine wine wholesale distributorship in Idaho the year Christian was born and his uncle is a local wine-maker in Caldwell. Needless to say Christian has worked in the wine industry in some aspect most of his life. Most recently focusing on production, he has worked at wineries in the Willamette Valley, Oregon, Loire Valley, France and the Rapel Valley of Chile. Christian is our scrupulous inventory manager and if the Coop Wine Shop has it, Christian knows where it is.
Allen Hewitt
Before working at the Boise Co-op Wine Shop, Allen was the wine guru for the Crane Creek Market in Boise, ID and before that was the wine manager of Albertsons on 16th & State when they revamped their wine selection in the late 90s. Before that Allen did pretty much every cool and exciting thing you could ever think of — eat your hearts out punk kids, this guy is way more hard core than any of you, plus his tattoos are better. Allen is our California and Walla Walla King. He loves anything by Dunham Cellars and Colvin. He is often heard saying, “Now, that’s HUGE!”
Robin Zimmermann The mistress of Mosaic Wine Bar for two years, Robin transferred to the Boise Co-op the summer of 2006 where she became known as Rompicollo Robin, after her impressive run selling thousands of bottles of the Super Tuscan by the same name. Robin’s tastes are diverse, but after her recent trip to Germany with Valckenberg, her interest and love for German Riesling has developed immensely. She loves Joh. Jos. Prum 2004 Wehlener Sommemuhr Auslese and Brickhouse 2005 Pinot Noir.
Rosemary Gray, Emeritus
Rosemary was with the Boise Co-op for a couple of years and started up our Wine Club and latest version of our Newletter. You would have be hard-pressed to find anyone else in Idaho who was as fanatical about Austrian wine as she wass. When not excelling at her mission to get people excited about drinking Gruner Veltliner, Zweigelt or Rotgipfler she’s basking in the beauties of the Loire, which often leave her muttering, “Chenin Blanc is the best grape, ever.” Before the Co-op, she worked at premier shop, Wine Cask, in Santa Barbara, and realized even in the heart of Central Coast California she prefers wine from Europe. She has since moved on to the Big Apple (Harlem to be more specific), and is working for Chambers Street Wines. Hopefully she will grace our web page with wine stories from New York in the near future.
