From Chateau d’Oupia in the Languedoc, owner André Iché had been selling his grapes to négociants until some fifteen years ago he was convinced to bottle his own wine. That turned out to be good news for consumers. This blend of Carignan (from 70 year old vines) and Syrah is a big, thick red that coats your glass while it caresses your palate. Offers a flavor explosion of ripe berry fruit along with smooth tannins, touches of herb, spice and anise, and a long velvety finish. An exceptional value at $7.99 a bottle.
The name marks the 1208 massacre of the Cathars, a Christian sect of the Languedoc long persecuted as heretics by the Catholic church.
